Story:
Immediately scientists start to construct new telescopes. Only a few months later they detect an artificial signal, without doubt of intelligent origin. It is a binary code that - after decryption - represents an open unsolved fractional differential equation. There were long discussions what to do with the signal. Eventually the scientists decide to answer the signal with the correct mathematical solution. Humanity reveals itself as type 0 civilization and the first interplanetary contact was established.
After further investigation, they detect the origin of the signal. It came from an exomoon – scientists named it Prometheus without further ado – with a distance of 40 light years from the local planet, orbiting a gas planet that again is orbiting a type M star, at that point yet unreachable.
In the same period, engineers are developing a new drive technology with the purpose to permit a faster interconnection between the planets within the local solar system. With this drive, an interstellar journey to Prometheus will shorten from 830 to 13 local star orbit periods. Almost every space agency is trying to build a spacecraft with said technology. After a few years, the shuttle builder Cyclops establishes its position and starts with the construction of the interstellar spacecraft named Prometeo.
